The National Organization of Nigeria (SON) is the government agency responsible for the development and implementation of quality standards for imported and domestically manufactured products in Nigeria.

In order to ensure that controlled products comply with the country's technical standards or other international standards that have been approved to protect Nigerian consumers from unsafe or non-compliant products, the Nigerian National Bureau of Standards decides to implement controlled products exported to the country. Mandatory Conformity Assessment Procedure (hereinafter referred to as SONCAP) before shipment.

After the implementation of SONCAP in Nigeria for many years, the new SONCAP policy will be implemented on April 1, 2013 according to the latest notice, which is quite different from the previous SONCAP. The exporter no longer applies for SONCAP for each shipment, but instead applies for COC. The exporter obtains the COC and applies to the importer for SC. SC is directly applied by the importer at the local SONCAP agency. In addition, on-site sampling testing, inspection and supervision are required according to the risk category of the product.

All products to be imported into Nigeria are controlled products that must be subject to the Nigerian Standard Conformity Assessment Program, with the exception of foods, pharmaceuticals, medical products other than mechanical equipment, chemical products used as raw materials, military products and equipment. , aviation related products, industrial equipment used for production, second-hand products (except cars), bicycles/motorcycles and cars in the form of CKD.

The first category of products (For Group I)

I-01 includes video games and other electronic toys, video games, entertainment equipment and outdoor playground equipment

The second category of electrical and electronic products (For Group II)

All types of II-131 fax machines, telephones, mobile phones, walkie-talkies and similar communication products are regulated.

II-132 Main plugs, sockets, adapters and electrical boxes All application BS standard product types are regulated.

II-199 Products that operate only with DC current directly supplied by the battery. All products that operate with DC power are included in this class.

The third category: automotive products (Group III: Automotive)

Old cars of the III- 01b old car (CBU) that have been in use for eight years are regulated. Motor vehicles larger than 8 years are prohibited from importing. The age is calculated from the completion of vehicle processing.

All types of III-02 automotive glass are regulated.

III-03 Vehicle Parts (New), including Detachable Toolboxes for Motor Vehicles and Non-Motor Vehicles All vehicle spare parts, including CKD toolboxes for both motorized and non-motorized vehicles (including bicycles), are regulated.

III-04 Motor Vehicle Tires and Internal Piping All cars, trucks, trolleys, MPVs, motorcycles, mopeds, scooters and bicycles are regulated. Agricultural, forklifts, and excavation vehicles are not regulated.

III-05 Motor vehicle batteries, including all types of batteries used in electric forklifts, are regulated.

Category 4: Chemicals (Group IV: Chemical Products)

IV-01 Lubricating Oils and Petroleum Products for Vehicles, Machinery and Electrical Machinery

IV-02 Paint, varnish thinner, putty and related products
