ErP certification is the energy efficiency certification part of CE certification. Enforcement began in 2013.
ErP = Energy-related Products, ie energy related products. Refers to any product that has been placed on the market and/or has been delivered for use and that has an impact on energy consumption during its use. It includes components of energy-related products covered by the ErP Directive, which are marketed and/or delivered to the end user as separate components, and which should be capable of being independently evaluated for environmental impact.
The ErP Directive is the new European CE Marking Regulation. As a CE Marking Directive, the requirements of the ErP Directive will be executed along with other requirements such as safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and radio.
The Erp Directive is a CE mark requirement. If the product imported into the European market falls within the CE range, the CE mark should be carried. In addition, some authoritative foreign certification bodies can provide the ErP logo for marketing use.
Does the ENERGY STAR approval mark the ErP requirements?
Do not. ENERGY STAR is a US certification mark and cannot be used as proof of compliance with EU directives. The only sign that can be used as proof of conformity is the European ecolabel.
